Friday, February 19, 2010

Police and Prosecutors gathered at the San Antonio Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse on February 19, 2010 in a collaborative training effort to get the latest training in investigation of impaired driving cases.  Through training hosted by Bexar County District Attorney, Judge Susan Reed the officers and prosecutors focused on legislative update training, field sobriety testing, and crime scene investigation.  Instructor Clay Abbott from the Texas District and County Attorney's Association presented attendees with legislative updates and valuable information on defense tactics in the courtroom.

"Few Texas crimes are as difficult to investigate and prosecute as DWI. But with the lives of so many Texans at risk on our highways, police and prosecutors must work effectively together and have the most up -to-date knowledge of the law and

the best roadside and courtroom skills."  Several prosecutors and police officers from across South Texas and as far as Louisiana attended the training including officers from the Bexar County DWI Task Force and the Bexar County District Attorneys Office.

Mr. Eddie Jimenez extended his heartfelt appreciation to those who attended the training.  Jimenez was personally affected by a drunk driver who took the life of his child.  He is also a member of the CIRCLES of San Antonio Community Coalition.  Those in attendance truly showed a dedication to lifesaving.
